Victory At The Cross

easter-blog

Dear Eyebrow Burners,

What an exciting past few months we have had in and through the ministry of DBM. You have made it possible. Additionally, all of us have so very much to celebrate as we look back on the past days of Holy Week. Furthermore, as you read, this, the latest DBM Newsletter you will join us as we celebrate. Alleluia, our Savior is risen just as He said and, alleluia our Lord continues to open doors of Ministry to DBM!

Victory At the Cross

Therefore since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity,
So that by His death He might destroy him,
who holds the power of death that is the devil
(Hebrews 2:14)

Up from the Grave He arose; that is what we celebrated on Resurrection Sunday. Christians we do not celebrate Easter, the celebration of the coming of spring, but what we do shout about is the fact that Satan, sin and the grave were defeated. Jesus crushed this trio not only from the cross but more so when He exploded out of the tomb early that Satan-defeating resurrection Sunday Morning. Click here for the DBM January-March 2018 complete Newsletter...

Blessed Christmas

Dear Investors, Prayer Warriors and Friends of DBM,
May you be reminded of the blessedness and the holiness-of the Christmas Season. Please remember, his coming to earth did not anticipate a kingdom, a throne, an empire, power or riches but a cross, a grave a resurrection and ascension. His birth, this incarnation did not benefited him but it benefited you and me: He did it for our redemption.

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)

“His Master Piece” was an illustration J. John used to speak of how highly God values the soul of every man, woman, boy and girl. Evangelist John was the featured speaker on a Focus on the family broadcast. He told the story that one day as a man passed by an antique shop, he looked in the window. What he saw caused him to stop, lean in with his nose to the glass to take a closer look at what he beheld with his eyes. The ordinary person who glanced at the dust covered painting encased in a broken, jagged frame would have considered it a piece of junk. To the man in this story the painting seemed familiar. He leaned even closer and to his inordinate surprise and shock, he realized that the canvas bore his signature. The painting nobody wanted was his! Click here to read the entire newsletter. . .

Happy Thanksgiving

EYEBROW BURNERS,

MAY YOU BE BLESSED THIS DAY OF REMEMBRANCE OF THANKS

3c944efd-b5c1-45bd-a6eb-901c5cb9b5d0

A Song of Gratitude to Our Lord
But I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving.
That which I have vowed I will pay Salvation is from the LORD.”
(Jonah 2:9)

It matters not the situation we are in there must be something, at least one thing, for which each of us could be thankful. Over the years in serving in a Pastoral role I have heard many wonderful accounts of expectations of family gathering for upcoming and past Thanksgiving dinner; I have heard wrenching accounts of those who were hurting at this time of year for one reason or another. Eyebrow Burner whether in joy or sorrow, chose one thing and, just say thank you. Praise is what we choose to do!

Let me share a story of you an observation I made. One day a woman walked by on her own two healthy legs. Later, another passed she had a severe limp and walked with the assistance of one cane. Next came a man walking almost dragging his legs he had to use two arm brace canes. Another day, I saw a young child with two arm braces, who had one leg and, had to swing the leg out front to move forward. Lastly, I saw Joni Erikson-Tada at a conference. She was paralyzed from the neck down and could only move with the aid of a wheelchair.

girl with crutchesjoni-true-woman

SOMETIMES WE OUGHT TO COUNT OUR BLESSINGS

What amazed me was the fact that Joni would have given anything to be able to be like that child who moved with the aid of a two-arm brace, and would have been thankful to be able to move at will and not bound to a wheelchair. Imagine this with me. Joni would have been thankful to be in the shoes of the one-legged child, the child would have been thankful for at least have two legs even if he would have had to drag his legs forward with two arm brace canes; the two arm braced-legged dragging boy would have been thankful if he had had just a limp and a cane, the woman with the cane wish she had two healthy legs and not hindered by a limp and a came.

Thankfulness, at times, is based on our point of view. It seems that we tend to compare up and never down. For example, some may say, they have the better family, marriage, or children than mine; he has the better car, job, friends than me; and the list can go on. We seldom compare our selves to those less fortunate than ourselves. In some parts of the world when we use the word poor it may mean a person who has nothing. That is to say, no clothes, no food, no shelter and no health. last year I saw a homeless woman with a shopping cart full of items and cell phone! Here in the USA, she is a poor person by our standards. In some countries, however, the poor there would call her rich. When one looks at those whom we may think are better off than we are; it leads to an inner turmoil of some kind. On the other hand, when the comparison is reversed, in that, we tend to see how much more blessed we are than others; it leads to a spirit of thankfulness. Praise is what we choose to do!

Indian Woman HomelessHomeless woman Usa

SOMETIMES WE FORGET HOW BLESSED WE ARE

If the homeless woman in the USA were to compare her situation to that of the poor in India, I wonder what her response would be. Of course, this is an extreme illustration. Even so, do not mistake me, I am not talking about pride or arrogance of one’s standing in life. No, rather I am talking about an appreciation for where we are as opposed to where we could have been. The proverb “but for the grace of God, there go I”, coins the thought very well. Come on followers of Jesus Christ take time and look into your life, look around your house; look at your job or school; sit down and deeply contemplate what you do have! Just be thankful to the Lord for there are others who are in worse situations than you! You pray for them and yet, at the same time, thank God for your blessings. Praise is what we choose to do!

If you cannot find one item for which you can thank God, I would like to suggest that you do the following. Find a quiet place take the bible verses listed below; pray each one thanks to God for what he had done:

Defeat Is Not An Option

Dear Eyebrow Burners,

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

(Philippians 4:13)

Defeat was not an option. Pastor A. R. Bernard shared an illustration that caught my attention. It was about an ant that refused to give up. Each time the ant tried to advance Pastor Bernard would put his foot in his path. The ant would stop, wait and, try to move on again. The pastor would put his feet in its way; time and time again the ant would repeat the same behavior. After a while, the ant stopped, fully changed course, and scurried around his foot. Pastor placed his foot in its path again, and again it went around his foot. This imagery reminded followers of Jesus Christ that we ought not to give up when faced with obstacles. The ant did not give up and neither should we!

ant-lifting-a-twig-610x351

The Ant Can Carry Items as Much As 100 Times its Own Weight

The Ant Encourages Us to Press Pass Limitations: Defeat is Not an Option

What some may not know is that an ant, no smaller that point of a pen, can raise a load as much 50 times its weight. In some cases, the tiny power house can lift as much as 100 times his body mass in pounds. (http://theincredibleant.com/ant-how/how-much-weight-can-an-ant-lift). For instance, if a person who weighs 150lbs and were to carry 100 times his body weight, then he would have to be able to carry up to 15,000lbs! Should the ant come upon a tiny or not so tiny morsel; he will do anything and everything to carry that item back to the nest. You see Saints of God; there is a drive within the ant which pushes him to non-stop action to forage. Whatever the size of the scrap, that insect will carry it. The ant will not give up!

The Ant’s Example Teaches Us about Persistence: Defeat Is Not An Option

Believers in Jesus Christ all of us at one time or another will face situations in our lives when others, for one reason or another, may intentionally or unintentionally place hindrances and obstacles in our path. In the end, the aim is to distract, to wear down, and ultimately defeat hopes, dreams, goals, and desires. More often than not, the attack affects all, even the seasoned believer, and may eventually discourage to the point of not having the strength to move forward. Eyebrow Burner do you feel overwhelmed to the point of throwing in the towel? Do not do it; take the example from the ant. Saints of God, it matters not the obstacles which may pop into your path, whether large or small, whether they may seem manageable or menacing, keep going forward. Even if you have to rest a while; then do so and, go at it again. Cry out to God, and keep pressing forward! If the obstacle refuses to move, then you go around it, climb over it, or tunnel under it. Despite the situation, resolve within yourself that giving up is not an option! Mind you, I am speaking of things which are in line with scripture and which the Lord has called you to do. Just like the ant you keep pressing on; don’t give up, not now not ever!

jordan_river_rapids_kfar_blum_israel_kefar_blum

After Forty years of judgment, the people of Israel were about to fulfill, again, the divine promise to enter into the land of milk and honey. The raging Jordan and the impenetrable wall of Jericho were new blockages to the entrance and then possession of the Promised Land. Instead of focusing upon the obstacles the people looked to the Lord and, He led them past each hindrance. The Jordan split in half, and the gigantic impenetrable Jericho wall fell to the ground. Israel walked past each obstacle and entered the Promised Land.

THE ANT’S POWER-LIMITED, GOD’S POWER-ETERNAL: DEFEATS ISN’T OPTION

Eyebrow Burner, we have to remain persistently determined to stay on course, to hold fast to what the Lord has called us to, whether it affects you, possessions or property. Like the ant, the burden you may have to carry may seem more than you can bear, but we can carry it! The ant is built to carry heavy loads, but Christ who is our burden bearer, he fills the believer. An inner drive pushes the ant to the forage for provisions, but the believer can call out to Jehovah-Jireh our provider. In other words, although we can take the example from the ant to stay persistent and press on in matters of the faith and life; unlike the ant, we do not have to do it in our strength. Philippians 3:13 reminds us “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” With all the power the ant may have there, eventually, will be a burden too heavy for him to carry. As for the believer, no burden is too much, no trial is too tough, and no testing is too rough, because our Lord is our burden bearer. That ant may have power but our God is eternally powerful, that ant may have power but our God isAlmighty, ever present, and above it all our He never fails! Eyebrow Burner keep pressing on, for those who are in Christ, defeat isn’t an option!

From Sewage To Praise

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33)

Praise Lifted Up In A Sewage Pit

All day, He was up to his knees in feces yet He praised God. Several years ago, a dear friend of mine and conference speaker Barbara Hibschman shared a story which deeply impressed me. She spoke of a pastor who was a prisoner of war. As punishment, the guards give him the task of shoveling out the camp’s sewage ditch. The smell was horrible, the daily climate was hot and humid, the flow of sewage plenty and non-stop. Each morning when the sun arose, the Pastor knew a ditch full of sewage awaited him. Yet he awoke with excitement!

For this Pastor, days spent knee deep in feces was a blessing. What Satan meant for evil and, the attempt of the hard-hearted prison guards to demoralize this pastor, God turned around for good. As our Lord would have it, because no one wanted to pass near the sewage pit, this man had complete undisturbed quiet. The guards left him alone; all the drama of the camp did not touch his nerves; and he had total uninterrupted peace. Instead of dwelling on his misfortune, the sad stinking state of his existence and, the loneliness of the task, the Pastor turned his eyes upon Jesus. With determination he switched his focus; he chose to worship in the mist of the filth.

Sewage Pit Becomes A Cathedral

All day long, he cried out with uplifted voice to his Lord in praise. From morning to evening, he sang of his master’s majesty and glory. That septic pit became holy ground as the song says,
“This is holy ground; we’re standing on holy ground
For the Lord is present, and where He is, is holy. . .”
To some it may be sacrilegious to speak of God meeting a troubled soul in such a seemingly God-forsaken setting. That is exactly what happened; that horrible place became the Pastor’s Cathedral where he went to met with God. All day long, from morning to evening He was up to his knees in feces; yet he praised God!

For Example: Sewage Pit Situations

Eyebrow Burners, some of the situations many of us are facing impacts us on a level of shoveling sewage from an ever-flowing septic pit. For example, there are missionaries who have ministered and minister in areas where, in the midst of taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth, they have had to bury a family member. At times, they have had to inter the first convert to be a follower of Jesus Christ. Or likeReverend Tyree Lee, Senior Pastor of Byways and Hedges Church in Brooklyn, New York, whose church an arsonist burnt to the ground (http://abc7ny.com/news/brooklyn-church-burned-to-ground/249206/). What about a believer whose non-believing co-workers who, on a daily basis, would plan and launch covert attacks to harass and discredit. Another is the lawyer Horatio Gates Stafford, who lost his son in 1871 and two years later lost his four daughters in a shipwreck? Yet, in the midst of their septic situations, they all found ways to praise God.

Of missionary Gary Witherall, whose wife was killed in Jordan by Muslim extremist, a columnist wrote “Some days, when Gary looks back and recalls that dark day in November, as she [his wife Bonnie] lay on the floor of that clinic, in tears and in despair, there are moments he just feels Jesus’ arms squeezing him tight, and the Holy Spirit saying peacefully, “God is alive! Jesus is alive! And he is searching out who he wants to touch.” And he remembers the words of a song of surrender that pours into his heart”(http://www.ambassadorspeakers.com/ACP/printSpeaker.aspx?speaker=224). Pastor Lee as he looked at his situation said “We will put up a tent and we will have church.” Sister F who was being attacked by her co-workers would arise every morning to worship and praise God. In the office, she would play worship music softly in her cubicle. Horatio Gates who, within span of two years, lost all of his five children, turned, his pain into praise. He penned the well know hymn “It is well with My Soul”.
“When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot,
Thou hast taught me to say, it is well, it is well with my soul.”

How To Praise In A Sewage Pit Situation

What is your septic situation? Look to the Pastor who is the main topic of this devotional. He turned his pain into praise; and changed the horrific pit into a holy place. One of the preachers, Sister Khaleila, at the church’s most recent night of prayer, outlined steps showing how believers can deal with septic situations. Here is a summarized adaptation of her message:-

  1. Release your faith; declare that God is able to meet the challenge:
  2. Get into prayer
  3. Fight with preservation to the bitter end
  4. Stay in an attitude of praise even though you may not feel like it.

Eyebrow Burners, Jesus said in John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Hebrews 4:15 says “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin.” If nothing else can move you to praise, the fact that our Lord and Christ suffered just as we suffer and more should be a catalyst to launch our praise. Sister Khaleila ended her message with the powerful words “My praise puts God back into his rightful position of being head of my life. [Worship] cancels all plans of spiritual attacks used by this spirit of heaviness.” (Khaleila Davis: The Garment of Praise for the Spirit of Heaviness). Eyebrow burner we too can praise God all day from morning to evening, even if we are knee deep in sewage. Our focus must be upon Jesus not upon the situation and, even the pit can become a refreshing place!

One Christian Defeats A Thousand Demons

Any one of you can make a thousand men run away,
because the Lord your God is fighting for you,
just as he promised. (Joshua 23:10)

One Can Put A Thousand To Flight

In the book of Joshua, it says one can put a thousand to flight. Sometimes, we, the followers of Jesus Christ live our lives as though our God is weak and lacks power. Moreover, we ourselves behave as if we live at the mercy of evil in the world. The Scriptures does not in any way show this to be so. Rather, it tells us that through Christ we can do anything (Philippians 4:13). The aim of this newsletter is to remind the followers of Jesus Christ of the power and authority we do have in His name. We live move and have our being not in our strength; not in what the world allows us to do; and certainly not because of the praise or accolades of men. We as believers have the power to do only in and through Our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 17:28).

dbm1

It Is God Who Enables Us Against Our Enemies

Any believer in Christ will face trials at one point or another in his or her life. The higher and deeper one goes in one’s spiritual walk the more of a threat that Christian will be to Satan and his work. The higher and deeper one goes in one’s spiritual walk, the greater threat he or she will be to the systems of this world. The higher and deeper one goes in one’s spiritual walk with Christ and, dear to live it out with holiness and integrity, the bigger menace one becomes in the spiritual realm. Do not lose faith when testing and trials are horrific and, which seem to come on a regular basis. Stand firm let nothing move you (1 Corinthians 15:58), keep doing the work of the Lord and, in His time God will deliver!

The Lord Fights For Us

Allow me speak directly to you. Do you not realize that when you awake each day and, every time the sun raises in the sky they signals that you are a day closer to your deliverance from whatever you are facing? Meditate on that and let it encourage you. Do you feel alone in your battle? Remember the Lord said one could put a thousand to flight because He fights for them. As troubles fall, you may feel or may not feel or even sense the presence of God in the midst of your problem. You may not even believe, know, trust, have faith in or acts as if God is in fact there at your side fighting for you. Why do I say this to you? I can say it because the Bible says; one can put a thousand to flight because the Lord fights for him. You see Saints of God; the Battle belongs to the Lord. Eyebrow Burner if you are too tired to fight, then stand still for the Lord God fights for you (Exodus 14:14). One day, the Bible declares, the enemy you see today you will never see again (Exodus 14:14); for no weapon forged against you shall prosper (Isaiah 57:7).

The Lord Fought Through Elijah and Through David

The Prophet of YHWH, Elijah, stood alone against the 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah. God had one representative; Satan had 850 hundred representatives. The “throw-down” was if Satan was the true God let him cause the fire to consume the sacrifice; conversely, if YHWH was the true God let him cause the fire to come and consume the sacrifice. From morning to evening, the prophets of Baal prayed and chanted, but nothing happened. In desperation, they then cut themselves in the act of deep worship to evil as they continued to chant and pray.

Elijah Alone Fought 850 Enemies and Won

Elijah Alone Fought 850 Enemies and Won

David Alone Fought The Giant Goliath and Won

David Alone Fought The Giant Goliath and Won

Despite all their effort, no fires appeared! The sacrifice laid waiting. At the end of the day, it was Elijah’s turn. The Prophet of YHWH prayed a few words and within in a few seconds fire fell from heaven and burned up the sacrifice. One God fearing, God trusting man put 850 to flight because he knew God had the power. Greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world (1 John. 4:4). Satan lost the battle because he was not and is not God. YHWH is God. YHWH alone is God. Hear o Israel the Lord our God is one (Deuteronomy. 6:4). Jesus said, the Father and I are one (John. 10:30).

Because God Fights For You, You can Fight

More times than not, we the followers of Jesus Christ tend to feel more like victims than victors; overcome by our problems rather than overpowering them through the power of Christ. You, my Brother or Sister in Christ, are a one man army. Moses stood alone against Pharaoh and his army, David stood alone against Goliath, Daniel stood alone against the plot of his enemies, Apostle Paul stood alone against the Sanhedrin, Jesus hung alone on the cross against Satan and his demons. What I am trying to say is that you have the power through Christ to stand, to fight, and to make it through to the end. Because God fight for us, the defeat of Satan is possible; so says

Do Not Be Afraid, Battle On, The Lord Fights For You

Do Not Be Afraid, Battle On, The Lord Fights For You

Joshua 23:10. At times we are so focused on the problems and, the challenge of it that we tend to forget that we are indeed Christians. That the Lord is in the battle with us; He has given us the power to stand strong and fight. When we are no longer able to fight He will fight for us. Do not fear, nor be timid in the face of whatever your battle, challenge, problem or angst maybe. Just remember, any one of you can make a thousand men run away, because the Lord your God is fighting for you, just as he promised. (Joshua 23:10)

Sacrifice of Praise

WE AT DBM ARE SO THANKFUL FOR YOU!

thanksgiving1

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise
–the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.

One of my favorite songs as a teenager was a piece which used instruments to show praise in progress. As one would listen one heard the narrator tell the story of a believer in Jesus Christ who was so downright depressed, he could not utter one word of praise. He was so low in spirit that nothing could be said or done to coax him to sing a note of praise from his lips. But with a bit of persuasion and, still showing no interest or feeling, he made an attempt to worship. The narrator used instruments to describe his journey from depression to praise.

SO DEPRESSED HE COULD NOT PRAISE

SO DEPRESSED HE COULD NOT PRAISE

When the narration begun one heard the omp, omp, omp, omp of a Tuba which signified the depressed man’s beginning attempt at praise. With this start he began to focus on the omp, omp, omp, omp of the Tuba and, not upon the problem of his depression. When his focused changed, suddenly a flute joined in with a too too, too, too, too, too. With the two instruments going, one could feel that his worship was going deeper and higher; his despair was lightening. Next came tee, tee, tee, tee, tee of a piccolo. Within a few minutes, the French Horn joined in with a bah, bah, bah, bah before you know it, a full symphony of instruments was all celebrating together to show that he was in full praise. Depression had departed and praise had come. He started with the lone omp omp omp of the Tuba. When the air cleared, there was “Symphony of Praise” taking place.

Too often, we as believers tend to think that if we are not “feeling it” then worship cannot or could not take place. The narrator of the story explained that the man, out of his will, chose to praise and, out of the will came the sounds of the tuba. While the will praised, emotions stood outside the door refusing to come into the room. Although emotions refused to come in, the depressed man willed himself to sing praise unto the Lord. As he persisted, emotions became engaged and the later came into the room. Saints of God, you do not have to “feel it” to get into an attitude of praise, you just have to decide to do worship. Sooner or later emotions will kick in, and you will begin to “feel it.”

HE WILLED HIMSELF TO PRAISE SYMBOLIZED BY SOUNDS OF THE TUBA

HE WILLED HIMSELF TO PRAISE SYMBOLIZED BY SOUNDS OF THE TUBA

David praised God while his enemies were pursuing him. Psalm 7 begins with his complaint to God about his pursuers. Psalm 7: “Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me”. Then the Psalm ends with words of praise, although his circumstances had not changed. Psalm 7: 17,” I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High”. Look at Paul and Silas of Acts 16. Although they were in prison they chose to lift their voices in praise to God. Acts16:24,25 says “On receiving this order, he placed them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. About midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them”. In both cases, we can safely say, due to the gravity of their situation, neither David or Paul were “feeling it” enough to praise. Guess what? Even so, they lifted up a sacrifice of praise. This attitude is very much in keeping with the depressed man of our story. As will and emotion joined, praise took over and, depression disappeared; then joy filled him to overflowing.

HIS EMOTION JOINED HIS WILL THEN THE JOY OF THE LORD TOOK OVER

HIS EMOTION JOINED HIS WILL THEN THE JOY OF THE LORD TOOK OVER

Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays of the season can be a stressful time for some. Warm fellowship with family and friends which surround these holidays is the highlight of the year for many. For others, as the day approaches, they may feel an increasing sense of dread. How can one celebrate or get into the spirit of the day, when one’s heart is heavy, disappointed, in despair or frustrated; when one feels broken, belittled and poor. As is often heard, a person may say I am not just “feeling it” this year. Some may even say “how can I be thankful at such a time as this?” During those kinds of situations, in the natural, it is impossible for any sane person to have and attitude of gratitude.

A SACRIFICE OF PRAISE IS A CHOICE OF THE WILL (photo by JEG&Elizabeth George)

A SACRIFICE OF PRAISE IS A CHOICE OF THE WILL (photo by JEG&Elizabeth George)

The sweetest aroma of praise are the ones that rise up to our Lord out of pain, brokenness, difficulty and emotional bankruptcy. Moments like these are truly what our key bible verse alludes to Hebrews 13:15 where it says “Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise–the fruit of lips that openly profess his name”. Eyebrow Burner, it is our hope in our Lord that enables us to even consider the possibility of praise. When we think of all that he has done, all he has suffered for us, the pain he bore on our behalf; we can begin there as we praise, and as we offer words of gratitude on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day

Would you allow me to challenge you? On Thanksgiving Day even if you are not “feeling it” would you chose to praise.

  1. Just open your mouth and begin to thank God for some blessing in your life
  2. Find you favorite praise songs and play them out loud
  3. Look up Scripture verses which you can read out loud in praise to the Lord

Regardless of what you are presently facing you can offer a sacrifice of Praise unto your Lord! Just remember, it is our Lord who will fight for you, who will comfort you, who will give you strength and who will rejoice with you. Lift up your voice to say a heartfelt thank you to Him for your blessings or at least for His sustaining power during times of trouble.

Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving my brother and Sister in Christ

Weak Yet Powerful In Christ

But you O Lord are a Shield around me, my Glory,
and the One who lifts my head (Psalm 3:3)

Crushed but not destroyed;the flower and plant lay trampled in the dirt. Someone had broken a portion of the stem, but the main stalk was intact. A large footprint, deeply imprinted in the dirt and around the crushed Bush, gave evidence that this was the work of an angry person. The person responsible had to intentionally leave the walkway, to forcefully stomp on the shrub to destroy the flowering plant.

oct1

In Anger He Crushed The Plant

Though the plant usually grew low to the ground, it blossomed, bloomed and had a height beyond expectation. But there was a person, for reasons unknown, he resented the care the gardener and others had been giving in tending to the garden. The resulting success and beauty of the flowering path were added points of contention. In the dead of night, that one lifted his foot and stomped down on one of the flowering plants. He crushed the shrub but had it just enough life in it to keep going.

Jesus The Hope Of The Broken
Eyebrow Burners, this scenario illustrates what our Lord Christ has done for us and the jealousy and resentment towards us from the enemy of our souls. Our Lord paid a high price for us; when he shed his blood; came to suffer and die for us. He gave his life so that we would have forgiveness of sin, cancel the guilt and condemnation of sin; change our destination from hell to heaven, bring about reconciliation with God, and bless us with the gift of eternal life. All that Adam and Eve had lost in the Garden of Eden, at the Crucifixion, Resurrection, and Ascension; Christ gave it all back unto us. Revelation 22: 3,4 says, “no longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face”.

Jesus Cares For The Broken

Jesus said he came that we might have life and have it more abundantly; come unto to me all ye that labor and are heavy laden; he is our comforter; he is close to the broken-hearted. Saints of God, do you realize that it is the loving care of our Lord’s presence which fortifies us when the enemy of our souls tries to attack us. That power of his presence and the care our Lord gives is the very thing Satan hates. While God’s aim is to love us, to give himself for us, to care for us in the good times and in the bad times, to love us when we please him or fail him, or fail him, Satan’s aim is to steal, kill and destroy us (John 10:10).

oct2

Jesus Is Our Comforter.

The main reason is that we are the love of God’s heart, the crown of his creation and the one for whom he died. While Satan, by his choice, is destined for hell. His resentment is blatant, tangible and destructive. He wants to stomp, crush, trample and squash us. At times it may feel as if we are knocked down from the latest battle, then it may seem as if wickedness has succeeded. Listen to me Eyebrow Burner; you be encouraged for though you are crushed or knocked out you are still alive. You are not destroyed. Our Lord Jesus Christ, the master gardener, is still in charge.

Crushed But Not Destroyed

Remember our crushed plant? When the gardener awoke the next day and saw the damage done the shrub, she did not hesitate but tended immediately to the shrub. She pruned away the ruined parts which succumbed to the attack of the enemy. She tied the damaged stem to sticks to hold them upright; watered and fertilized the plant with a unique growth concoction; and fenced in that damage plant to keep people away. Because that shrub was “wounded,” the gardener ignored all others in the garden, to give extra care and attention to that crushed plant.

oct3

Within Three Weeks the Crushed Plant Blossomed and Bloomed

Within three weeks the stem stood upright without needing support, new leaves appeared and soon after flowers bloomed. Under the care of the master, the plant regained much of what was lost.In the midst of your distress, the Bible reminds us-the Lord is close to the brokenhearted (Ps. 34:18).

My dear friends, do you feel trampled upon, beaten down or crushed by the vicissitude of life. Is there a situation in which you feel you cannot even lift your head? Eyebrow Burners then remember our the key verse for this devotional- Psalm 3:3, But you O Lord are a Shield around me, my Glory and the One who lifts my head

  • Psalm 145:18: “God is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth.
  • Psalm 34:15: “the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.”

Eyebrow Burners, presently, you may feel overcome by trouble. My friend turn to the Lord, who is our master gardener; call out to Him for care and for restoration. Eyebrow Burner call upon Him; He will prop you up and, will care for you in an intimate way. Our part is to stay close to him through prayer and the study of the Word. In due time you, like that flowering plant, will blossom and bloom again. You may feel crushed but know this you are not destroyed!

Our Lord Promises To Be Close To The Brokenhearted

Weak Yet Powerful In Christ

Dear Eyebrow Burners,

You may feel weak but in Christ you are powerful.

The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
He delivers them from all their troubles.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:17-18

Powerful Lion And A Weak Cub

Weak yet powerful in Christ: Recently, I saw a documentary on Bears. One scene intrigued me. The producer showed a Bear-Cub happily frolicking on the river bank, when suddenly, out of nowhere, a mountain lion appeared. Immediately and without showing a bit of fear that Bear-Cub, as he had seen his Father do, raised up on his hind legs and, let out a squeaky excuse of a roar. To my surprise, the mountain lion stopped, turned and ran away.

A Bear-Cub Chased A Lion

A Bear-Cub Chased A Lion

When the camera panned to a panoramic view of the scene; not too far from the Bear-Cub and standing on hind legs, in all his awesome power, was the Bear-Cub’s Father. At the sound of the Cub’s weak roar the Father charged on the scene and that totally changed the outcome. We are fully aware that the lion was not afraid of the Cub. he had the advantage, size, experience, agility and of course power. However, unknown to the viewer and the lion was the fact that the Cub was not alone. Unseen in the bushes and not too far away the Cub was under the watchful eye of the Mother and Father Bear. At one cry, the Father was on the scene. The Lion was out numbered, out powered and out-sized by Papa bear.

Powerful Troubles and the Weak Believer: Jehovah El Roi

When we are up against foes and situations which seem to have the advantage over us in any way, shape, or form, remember we have a Father in heaven who keeps a constant and watchful eye on us. Jehovah El Roi is the one who sees. Our God is Omniscient that means, at all times, He knows everything about us. He is Omnipresent, which means he is everywhere all at once and, therefore, see us at all times. He knows every plot, plan, project and program the enemy of our souls has put in place where we are concerned. Although we may not be aware of his eye upon us, you remember our Lord is Jehovah El Roi. He is the one who sees you and sees me! In the book of Genesis, Hagar cried out; the Lord heard her. He met her need. Because of his work, she was the first to call the Lord Jehovah El Roi.

Jehovah El Roi Our God Sees Our Struggles

Jehovah El Roi Our God Sees Our Struggles

Genesis 6:13 says “Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “You are a God who sees (Jehovah El Roi).” Job in the midst of all of his pain and problems said Job 7:8, “The eye of him who sees me (Jehovah El Roi).”

Powerful Troubles And The Weak Believer: Jehovah Nissi orJehovah and Sabaoth

Remember at a moment’s cry God is on the scene not just to give presence, but He will also engage in battle for us. Jehovah Nissi our Lord, our banner is the one who goes into war before us. In Exodus 17:15,16 Moses called the Lord Jehovah Nissi “Moses built an altar and named it The LORD is My Banner; and he said, “The LORD has sworn; the LORD will have war against Amalek from generation to generation.” Jehovah Sabaoth means God, is our protector. Isaiah 31:4,5 says “As a lion growls, a great lion over its prey-and though a whole band of shepherds is called together against it, it is not frightened by their shout or disturbed by their clamor-so the Lord Almighty will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights. Like birds hovering overhead, the Lord Almighty (Jehovah Sabaoth) will shield (protect) Jerusalem; he will shield (protect) it and, deliver it; he will ‘pass over’ it , will rescue it.”

Papa Bear Watched Over His Cub

Papa Bear Watched Over His Cub

The Father bear was on the scene to protect the Cub from the fangs of the lion. At the risk of his or her life to save their little one, the Father or Mother of the Bear-Cub would have taken on that Mountain Lion. Is that not like what our Lord and Christ did for us? He took on the enemy of our souls, at the risk of his own life, so that we would be saved. Jesus is my Jehovah Nissi. “God so loved me, that He gave His only son; so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Look at our Papa Bear God! He gave his life so that I could be saved from eternal destruction. As Jehovah Sabaoth, He is our protector from all harm and danger. Therefore, whenever any of us would feel vulnerable, under attack or troubled, then our Jehovah Sabaoth comes in, stands behind us, to protect us. Although you may feel weak and overwhelmed our Jehovah Nissi; our Jehovah Sabaoth is at the ready to defend and fight for you.

Weak Yet Powerful in Christ

Believer whatever you are call to do, do it! For the Lord your God who loves you, He is your Jehovah El Roi; your Jehovah Nissi and your Jehovah Sabaoth. Saint of God what are you facing at the moment that seems so horrible, terrible, impossible and incredible? Maybe all could muster is a thought, a weak cry, a simple whimper; or just a tear shot up to God in prayer. Remember you are crying out to your powerful Lord.

armor

Stand up, let out your war cry! This will alert your Father God and then watch the enemy scatter. You are not alone, though you may feel alone. The omnipotent and omnipresent one, He is your God. You may feel weak and defeated, but you are powerful in Christ! Stand up and roar. You may feel weak and overwhelmed, but in Him we are powerful. It is His power we lean and depend upon, not our own; his strength never fails. The Bible verses below will encourage you.

  • Psalm 46:1: God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
  • Nahum 1:7: The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows them that trust in him.
  • Psalm 9:9-10: The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
  • Psalm 59:16: But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.
  • Psalm 62:8: Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

Eyebrow Burners, yes at times we may be weak but in Christ, we are powerful, awesome, at peace and at rest. Do not give up yet, just keep holding on. Know that your God watches your every move and is attentive to your every cry. Psalm 34:15 says the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.

Is All Lost?

When All Hope is Lost: What Do You Do?

Even when there was no reason for hope,
Abraham kept hoping–believing (Romans 4:18)

From Hope to Hopelessness

Please pray for me. My husband and I are calling out to God for a child. We have been trying with no success. About a month later, she said, “praise God, we just received news that we are pregnant.” Then weeks later, I heard, “please come to the hospital the baby is in the Fallopian tube, they are going to end my pregnancy. “With tears, our prayers for the family went up to the Lord as all hope for a child evaporated. What must one do when one loses all hope? One keeps on hoping. As time, passed great news came; “we are pregnant again.” Every day we covered that baby in prayer. With each Doctor’s visit, the news was “all is well.”

Praise God We are Pregnant!

Praise God We are Pregnant!

One day a phone call came, “we lost the baby again!” More tears, more prayers, and yet more tears followed. The Mother’s heart was broken and once more all hope was Lost. Disappointment in God, despair and discouragement, all of these emotions raged within her. That woman kept on hoping, she kept on praying, she kept on attending Church, and she kept on participating in Bible Studies. When all hope was lost, and despite becoming devastated, this broken woman kept her hope in God.

I was three years old, when I witnessed the death of a mother-to-be for whom all hope was lost. Despondent and depressed, she threw herself under an oncoming train. Her once pregnant body lay on the train tracks, for the train did cut her in two. Not too far from her severed remains lay the fetus of her unborn-yet-born child which was ejected on impact.

Despondent and Depressed She Threw Herself on the Train Tracks

Despondent and Depressed She Threw Herself on the Train Tracks

Ashamed of her status as an unwed mother, and anticipating the disgrace, pain, humiliation and lifelong dishonor the pregnancy would have brought upon her family, the totality of it all pushed her past all hope. You see the culture of, and the faith of the family stipulated public disgrace and punishment of some kind for this assault to the name of the ancestors. A discussion revealed that the faith of this unfortunate woman left little or no room for failure, or hope in a God who would meet her in the midst of her pain.

From Hopelessness to Hopelessness

These two life situations show us that a follower of Christ who has done everything ‘right’ or a non-believer who has done something wrong, times of devastation hits all of us. Impartial and no respecter of persons, this human plague of despair visits us all at indiscriminate times. Saint and sinner are on the same level when it comes to times of no hope. But there is a huge difference in the way in which the Saint as compared to the sinner responds to the question; what must one do when one loses all hope? Christ followers turn to Him for relief, even if it is to complain; but the unbeliever may look to himself or others. The believer turns to prayer, study of the Word and worship to come into peace in the midst of distress. The non-believer looks to the things of this failing and flighty world to find serenity. When the believer leaves God’s presence, one leaves with peace and an expectation of deliverance. The world may offer peace, but offers no power to eradicate the problem. What must we do when all hope is lost? With eyes fixed on Christ, the believer places all trust and confidence in Christ for our Lord will deliver. What must one do when one loses all hope? One keeps on hoping.

Paul and Silas Moved From Hopelessness to Hope

Paul and Silas Moved From Hopelessness to Hope

Paul and Silas when imprisoned (Acts 16:25, 26), against all hope, they kept hoping by looking to the Lord. The verses say, “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed”. Our verse for our devotional said when Abraham lost all reasons to hope, he kept on hoping. He kept hoping, because he depended on upon God and not himself. When Daniel was thrown into the Lion’s den, he kept hoping in God, not in himself or the King’s ability to save. What must one do when one loses all hope? One keeps on hoping.

From Hopelessness To Hope

Twins are on the Way

Twins are on the Way

Are you facing a hopeless situation? Then open your Bible; find Bible verses which speak to your situation; pray those verses back to God, and find worship songs or hymns which tell of his victory. In this way, one keeps “hope alive,” in your God’s ability, to keep you in peace in the midst of hopelessness. The woman mentioned at the beginning of this devotional, the one broken having lost 2 pregnancies, the one who kept hoping in God in the face of hopeless, in a few weeks that woman will deliver twins! What does one do when all hope is lost? One keeps hoping in God, because our God can deliver; and He can fulfill His promise! Romans 4 verse 18 says, “Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping-kept on believing.”
