Jesus said, “If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him” (John 14:7-ESV).
Lessons In A Toothache
Is God real? While walking one wintry windless day, I took note that the sky was brilliant blue with large clouds floating overhead. Suddenly, it dawned upon me that it was not a windy day, and there was no evidence of wind movement, yet the clouds were moving. We know that clouds move at the will of the wind. It reminded me of a discussion I one heard. A mother was speaking to her son who told her did not believe in God because he could not see God. If he could not see God, could not touch God how then can he believe that God exist. His mother exhausted her theological arguments from every angle possible to help her son determine that God does exist.

Clouds Move By Winds We Do Not See
The matter remained heavy in her heart, and she prayed to God to help her help her son. One day he came to his mother complaining of a very severe toothache. She looked in his mouth but could not see a tooth which had a cavity. Nothing about the situation showed any evidence that he should have been experiencing any pain. Her son assured her that his tooth did hurt. Although she could not see or touch his pain, he was in pain.
Real Is Not Always Tangible
She said “son although I do not see any evidence of your pain, I cannot touch it or feel it. But you feel the pain and sense its effects upon your body. I do not. But because you tell me that you are in pain, I must believe what you said is true and act on what I heard. Although I cannot touch your pain or feel your pain, I must have faith; believe with confidence that what your pain is real. In a way it is the same in coming to understand that although you do not see God or do not feel God, or cannot touch God; that does not mean that God does not exist.

He Had a Toothache But His Mom Could Not See It
There are things in life that you are not, able to touch and feel but that does not mean it does not exist. Real is not always tangible. The Mother asked, do you believe that I love you? How do you know that my love for you is true? You do not see it, cannot touch it, cannot hear it, cannot smell it, and cannot taste! Yet you know my love is there and, it is real. My Son you feel or experience the sensation of my love for you, as I feel and experience the sensation of your love of me.
God Became Tangible: Incarnation
God you cannot see, touch, taste or smell, but one can experience God. But there is more. He gave us the Scriptures which tells us about himself; he sent his Son Jesus Christ to tell us about himself and who the Bible says is an image of God. Jesus said, “if you have seen me you have seen the Father” (John 14:7). What does the Bible tell us? It explains how God created us and the world. From the Bible, we learn about God, who he is, and how we can experience him.

God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son: nothing more real than that!
Most of all the Word of God speaks of His love for us that He sent His son Jesus Christ to die for us. What is so amazing is that Jesus said “the Father and I are one” (John 10:30). Jesus himself confirms that God exists. Luke 1:30-32: The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
God Is Real: He Exists
As I looked up at the clouds which seem to float effortlessly by, I was reminded of this discussion between this mother and son. The fact that we cannot see the wind, on this day we could not feel the wind, but we could see the effects of the wind upon the clouds. I think there is a lesson here for all of us. Even though you may not feel or see God in the midst of your situation that does not mean that our Lord does not exist or he is not at work. As the clouds moved, I knew it was the wind moving the clouds although I could not feel it. Dear brothers and sisters, we believe so firmly in intangibles things no one has ever seen or touched.

We May Not Feel God in Our Situation But He is At Work!
We would not say they are unreal and do not exist. Take love or hate for example; we cannot touch them, see them nor taste them; yet wars are fought over them. All of what I am saying may seem quite simplistic to explain the reality of God. But the gist of the lesson in this although you may not see nor feel the wind it is there and at work. Although you may not see nor feel God in the midst of your situation, have faith to know that God exists and he is at work.
