Weak Yet Powerful In Christ

Dear Eyebrow Burners,

You may feel weak but in Christ you are powerful.

The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
He delivers them from all their troubles.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:17-18

Powerful Lion And A Weak Cub

Weak yet powerful in Christ: Recently, I saw a documentary on Bears. One scene intrigued me. The producer showed a Bear-Cub happily frolicking on the river bank, when suddenly, out of nowhere, a mountain lion appeared. Immediately and without showing a bit of fear that Bear-Cub, as he had seen his Father do, raised up on his hind legs and, let out a squeaky excuse of a roar. To my surprise, the mountain lion stopped, turned and ran away.

When the camera panned to a panoramic view of the scene; not too far from the Bear-Cub and standing on hind legs, in all his awesome power, was the Bear-Cub’s Father. At the sound of the Cub’s weak roar the Father charged on the scene and that totally changed the outcome. We are fully aware that the lion was not afraid of the Cub. he had the advantage, size, experience, agility and of course power. However, unknown to the viewer and the lion was the fact that the Cub was not alone. Unseen in the bushes and not too far away the Cub was under the watchful eye of the Mother and Father Bear. At one cry, the Father was on the scene. The Lion was out numbered, out powered and out-sized by Papa bear.

Powerful Troubles and the Weak Believer: Jehovah El Roi

When we are up against foes and situations which seem to have the advantage over us in any way, shape, or form, remember we have a Father in heaven who keeps a constant and watchful eye on us. Jehovah El Roi is the one who sees. Our God is Omniscient that means, at all times, He knows everything about us. He is Omnipresent, which means he is everywhere all at once and, therefore, see us at all times. He knows every plot, plan, project and program the enemy of our souls has put in place where we are concerned. Although we may not be aware of his eye upon us, you remember our Lord is Jehovah El Roi. He is the one who sees you and sees me! In the book of Genesis, Hagar cried out; the Lord heard her. He met her need. Because of his work, she was the first to call the Lord Jehovah El Roi.

Genesis 6:13 says “Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, “You are a God who sees (Jehovah El Roi).” Job in the midst of all of his pain and problems said Job 7:8, “The eye of him who sees me (Jehovah El Roi).”

Powerful Troubles And The Weak Believer: Jehovah Nissi orJehovah and Sabaoth

Remember at a moment’s cry God is on the scene not just to give presence, but He will also engage in battle for us. Jehovah Nissi our Lord, our banner is the one who goes into war before us. In Exodus 17:15,16 Moses called the Lord Jehovah Nissi “Moses built an altar and named it The LORD is My Banner; and he said, “The LORD has sworn; the LORD will have war against Amalek from generation to generation.” Jehovah Sabaoth means God, is our protector. Isaiah 31:4,5 says “As a lion growls, a great lion over its prey-and though a whole band of shepherds is called together against it, it is not frightened by their shout or disturbed by their clamor-so the Lord Almighty will come down to do battle on Mount Zion and on its heights. Like birds hovering overhead, the Lord Almighty (Jehovah Sabaoth) will shield (protect) Jerusalem; he will shield (protect) it and, deliver it; he will ‘pass over’ it , will rescue it.”

The Father bear was on the scene to protect the Cub from the fangs of the lion. At the risk of his or her life to save their little one, the Father or Mother of the Bear-Cub would have taken on that Mountain Lion. Is that not like what our Lord and Christ did for us? He took on the enemy of our souls, at the risk of his own life, so that we would be saved. Jesus is my Jehovah Nissi. “God so loved me, that He gave His only son; so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Look at our Papa Bear God! He gave his life so that I could be saved from eternal destruction. As Jehovah Sabaoth, He is our protector from all harm and danger. Therefore, whenever any of us would feel vulnerable, under attack or troubled, then our Jehovah Sabaoth comes in, stands behind us, to protect us. Although you may feel weak and overwhelmed our Jehovah Nissi; our Jehovah Sabaoth is at the ready to defend and fight for you.

Weak Yet Powerful in Christ

Believer whatever you are call to do, do it! For the Lord your God who loves you, He is your Jehovah El Roi; your Jehovah Nissi and your Jehovah Sabaoth. Saint of God what are you facing at the moment that seems so horrible, terrible, impossible and incredible? Maybe all could muster is a thought, a weak cry, a simple whimper; or just a tear shot up to God in prayer. Remember you are crying out to your powerful Lord.

Stand up, let out your war cry! This will alert your Father God and then watch the enemy scatter. You are not alone, though you may feel alone. The omnipotent and omnipresent one, He is your God. You may feel weak and defeated, but you are powerful in Christ! Stand up and roar. You may feel weak and overwhelmed, but in Him we are powerful. It is His power we lean and depend upon, not our own; his strength never fails. The Bible verses below will encourage you.

  • Psalm 46:1: God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
  • Nahum 1:7: The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knows them that trust in him.
  • Psalm 9:9-10: The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
  • Psalm 59:16: But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.
  • Psalm 62:8: Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

Eyebrow Burners, yes at times we may be weak but in Christ, we are powerful, awesome, at peace and at rest. Do not give up yet, just keep holding on. Know that your God watches your every move and is attentive to your every cry. Psalm 34:15 says the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.
